Preventing Lost Drops When Mining or Fighting
Why Drops Get Lost
With physics on, mined blocks and mob drops fall instead of hovering. In caves, on cliffs, or over lava, that means a drop can tumble out of reach before you grab it.
Mining Safely
1. Mine from below or beside, not above. Standing under an ore vein lets drops fall toward you rather than away.
2. Place a solid block under the ore before breaking it. This catches the drop on a known surface.
3. Avoid mining over lava or void. If you must, bridge a solid floor first so drops land on it.
4. Sweep the floor after each vein. Physics items can roll several
blocks; walk the area before moving on.
Combat Tips
1. Fight on flat ground when possible. Slopes and ledges send drops rolling downhill.
2. Back mobs into a corner. Drops land in a predictable spot instead of scattering.
3. Use a hopper minecart or hopper floor in grinders. Anything that lands on a hopper gets collected automatically, so you never chase a rolling drop.
Recovery
If a drop rolls out of sight, check one or two
blocks downhill or in the direction of the nearest slope. Items rarely travel far unless the surface is ice or packed ice.
