How to Stop Items From Falling Through the World
Why Items Fall Through
Realistic Item Drops makes dropped items obey gravity, which means they can slip through gaps that vanilla items would ignore. Common culprits are unloaded chunks, thin floors made of non-solid blocks, and items dropped at chunk borders while you walk away.
Practical Fixes
1. Keep chunks loaded where you drop
things. If you drop a stack and immediately leave the area, the item can despawn or fall into the void before the chunk reloads. Use a chunk loader or stay nearby until you collect the drop.
2. Avoid dropping items over non-solid
blocks. Fences, slabs, stairs, and similar partial
blocks let physics items pass through in ways vanilla items do not. Drop onto full solid
blocks instead.
3. Build a catch floor. In farms or mob grinders where items spawn and fall, place a solid block layer beneath the kill area so drops land on something instead of continuing downward.
4. Check your void. If your base is over the End or a void world, any dropped item that misses a platform is gone. Ring drop points with solid
blocks.
When Items Still Vanish
If an item disappears despite a solid floor, the chunk likely unloaded mid-fall. Re-enter the area and check nearby; items that fell into unloaded space sometimes reappear at the last loaded position.
