Break Into Locked Doors Using Lockpicks and Keys
Understanding Locked Doors
Locked doors can be opened two ways: by finding the correct key or by using a lockpick. Keys are hidden throughout your map as collectibles, while lockpicks offer a chance-based alternative when you don't know where the key is.
Using Lockpicks
Right-click a locked door with a lockpick in hand. The lockpick will attempt to open the door, but success isn't guaranteed—you might need multiple attempts. Failed lockpicks are consumed, so gather several before attempting difficult locks.
Finding and Using Keys
Search rooms thoroughly for keys hidden in drawers, on shelves, or in suspicious locations. Right-click the locked door with the correct key to unlock it permanently. Keys can be reused multiple times.
Strategic Door Placement
- Use locked doors to gate off trap rooms or valuable loot areas
- Hide keys in locations that require solving puzzles or navigating traps
- Combine locked doors with boarded-up doors (breakable with hammers or crowbars) for layered security
- Place multiple keys throughout your map so players have options for progression
This creates meaningful exploration and decision-making in your adventure maps.
