Setting Up an Efficient Ice-Farming Route in Snowy Biomes
Pick the Right Biome
Frozen ocean and ice spikes give the densest ice coverage, so they are the best starting points. Snowy plains and snowy taiga have patchier ice but are easier to traverse on foot. Once you find a biome, note its coordinates and build a small base or waypoint nearby so you can return without getting lost.
Build a Sweep Pattern
Do not wander randomly. Pick a direction and walk in straight lines, spacing them a few blocks apart so you do not miss blocks. Use F3 to track your coordinates, or place torches every so often as breadcrumbs. A boat on frozen ocean lets you cover ground fast; on land, a horse or just sprinting with a full hunger bar works. If the ice is thick, dig down a layer at a time so you can check ice that was hidden under the surface.
Handle the Cold and the Drops
Bring leather armor or a modded cold-resistance option if your pack includes temperature mechanics, plus plenty of food. Keep a chest at your base for sorting loot. Because most ice is empty, your inventory fills slowly — but when you hit a rich patch, it fills fast. A shulker box or an ender chest lets you keep going without turning back. Finally, consider leaving a trail of signs or colored wool so you can re-run the same route after a break.
