How to Troubleshoot Sheep That Won't Change Color

If sheep are all spawning the same color, or the colors you configured are not showing up, the cause is almost always the config list or the timing of when colors are assigned.

Check the Config List

1. Open the mod's config file and confirm the color list is not empty and not reduced to a single entry. A one-color list means every sheep spawns that color.

2. Verify each color's spelling matches the format of the other entries. A mistyped value is ignored, which can shrink your effective palette without any error message.

3. Save and fully restart the game so the file is re-read.

Understand When Colors Are Assigned

Colors are chosen when a sheep spawns, not continuously. Sheep that existed before your config change keep their old color, and sheep spawned before the mod loaded are unaffected. To confirm the mod is working, travel to ungenerated chunks or spawn fresh sheep and observe them. If a named jeb_ sheep is cycling normally, the mod is loaded and functioning; the issue is then limited to your color list. Also remember that shearing reveals the true color, which may differ from a cycling sheep's current appearance.
