How to Use Project Red Sensors (Light and Rain)

Light Sensor Basics

The Light Sensor outputs a redstone signal based on the light level at its location. Place it where it can see the sky or the area you want to monitor. Right-click to open its interface and set the threshold — the light level at which it turns on or off. You can also invert the output so it triggers in darkness instead of light. This is useful for automatic lamps that turn on at dusk and off at dawn.

Rain Sensor Basics

The Rain Sensor detects whether it is raining in the world. It emits a signal while rain is falling and stops when the weather clears. Place it outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Like the Light Sensor, it can be inverted if you want a signal when it is not raining. Combine it with a Timer or State Cell to build a system that closes a roof or retracts a canopy when rain starts.

Wiring Sensors to Outputs

Run the sensor output through a Buffer Gate or Repeater if the signal needs to travel far, since sensor output is a standard redstone signal that weakens over distance. For a dusk-to-dawn lamp, connect the Light Sensor directly to a lamp or through a NOT Gate if you want it on when dark. For rain-triggered machinery, feed the Rain Sensor into a State Cell so the action latches and does not flicker as weather changes. Always set thresholds carefully and test by covering the sensor or waiting for weather.
