Using Project Red Lights for Hidden and Accent Lighting

Why Project Red Lights Are Great for Hidden Lighting

Because Project Red lights are full blocks and come in flat fixture styles, they can be embedded into ceilings, floors, and walls without looking like traditional torches. This makes them ideal for builds where you want light without visible light sources.

Hidden Ceiling Lighting

1. Choose Fixture Lights in a color that matches your ceiling (white or light gray works well).

2. Replace ceiling blocks with the fixture lights so they sit flush.

3. If you want them to be toggleable, use Inverted Fixture Lights and wire them with red alloy wire hidden above the ceiling.

4. Run the red alloy wire to a single lever or button for room-wide control.

Accent and Trim Lighting

  • Use thin rows of colored Cage Lights along the edges of a room to create a glowing trim.
  • Place Fallout Lights in a line along a corridor floor to guide players.
  • Use Lanterns hanging from fences or chains for outdoor paths.

Under-Floor and Pool Lighting

  • Embed lights under glass floors to create a glowing floor effect.
  • Place colored lights under water (with glass between) to tint pools and fountains.
  • Use inverted lights under pressure plates so stepping on a plate changes the floor color.

Combining with Red Alloy Wire

Project Red's red alloy wire can run along walls and ceilings without needing support blocks, making it the best way to wire hidden lights. Keep the wire one block behind the light and use a redstone connection through the block.
