How to Get Every Color of Project Red Light
Colors Available
Project Red Illumination lights come in all sixteen Minecraft dye colors: white, orange, magenta, light blue, yellow, lime, pink, gray, light gray, cyan, purple, blue, brown, green, red, and black. Every light style (Cage, Fallout, Fixture, Lantern, Illumar Lamp) and every inverted variant exists in each color.
Crafting a Colored Light
1. Obtain the dye for the color you want. Standard Minecraft dyes work — no special Project Red dyes are needed for the base colors.
2. Craft the light using the appropriate recipe. In most Project Red lighting recipes, you combine Illumar with the dye, or combine a base light with dye, depending on the specific block. Use JEI/REI to look up the exact recipe for the block you want.
3. The resulting block will be tinted that color and emit colored light if your shader/resource setup supports it.
Getting Illumar
Illumar is the glowing material at the heart of Project Red lighting. It is produced through Project Red's own crafting chain, typically involving glowstone dust and other ingredients. Check the Processes section of the wiki for the full chain.
Tips for Color Schemes
- Use light gray and white for neutral, bright rooms.
- Use cyan and blue for underwater or ice-themed builds.
- Use red and orange for forges, alarms, and lava rooms.
- Use green and lime for gardens and farms.
- Combine inverted and normal lights of the same color for dynamic effects.
