Difference Between Cage, Fallout, Fixture, and Lantern Lights
The Four Light Styles
Project Red Illumination offers four distinct light block shapes, each with a different look and use case. Understanding the difference helps you pick the right one for a build.
Cage Lights
Cage Lights have a metal frame or cage around the glowing core. They look industrial and are great for factories, mines, and steampunk builds. They cast the same light level as other Project Red lights but with a rugged appearance.
Fallout Lights
Fallout Lights mimic the look of retro-futuristic or post-apocalyptic fixtures — a glowing panel with a distinctive housing. Use them for sci-fi corridors, bunkers, or themed adventure maps.
Fixture Lights
Fixture Lights are flat, panel-style lights that sit flush against a surface. They are the cleanest option for modern architecture, ceilings, and hidden lighting where you want illumination without a visible bulb.
Lanterns
Lanterns are hanging or standing light sources with a softer, more decorative feel. They suit villages, gardens, and cozy interiors. Like the others, they come in all sixteen colors and in inverted variants.
Choosing the Right One
- Industrial/factory: Cage Light
- Sci-fi/bunker: Fallout Light
- Modern/minimal: Fixture Light
- Rustic/decorative: Lantern
All four styles share the same color palette, so you can mix them in one build while keeping a consistent color scheme.
