Why Hunt Small Dinosaurs

Velociraptors, Compsognathus, and Aquillops are pack hunters and agile creatures that drop valuable materials despite their smaller size. They're easier to kill than massive carnivores, making them ideal for gathering resources early in your mod progression.

Combat Strategy

Small dinosaurs move quickly and often hunt in groups. Use a sword or bow to engage them, but stay alert for pack behavior. If multiple creatures attack simultaneously, retreat to higher ground or into water where their mobility is reduced.

Focus on one target at a time to avoid being overwhelmed. Their smaller health pools mean quick kills, but their speed demands precision.

Harvesting Drops

Collect the raw meat and unique materials they drop—these are essential for crafting and cooking food. Small dinosaur materials are also used in various crafting recipes, so stockpile them as you hunt.

Hunt in groups when possible; multiple small dinosaurs are easier to manage than a single large predator. The Testing Grounds always has more spawning, so return regularly to farm materials.
