Project New Wind — Configuration

Every setting in the mod config file, with what it changes.

OptionWhat it does
incubatorActive IncubatorTuning for the Active Incubator block: spawn and spread timing, the nearby-undead cap, blob radius, and tentacle reach.
biome_restrictionsBiome RestrictionsOptionally limit the height-based spawn rules to specific biomes, on top of the dimension filter.
spawn_chance_hardCavalry Spawn Chance (Hard)Probability that a freshly spawned Zombie, Husk, or plain Skeleton (excluding babies, Drowned, Stray, Wither Skeleton, Zombie Villager) is promoted to a Heavy Cavalry variant — full armor, iron sword or axe, and a shield — on HARD difficulty. Only natural and
depth_rulesDepth RulesY-level thresholds and probabilities: surface crowd culling and gear clearing above the surface line, upgraded gear deep underground.
dimensionsDimensionsDimensions where the height-based spawn rules apply. Each entry is a dimension ID such as 'minecraft:overworld'. Default: the Overworld only.
duration_ticksDuration (Ticks)How long the Undead Immortality freeze lasts, in ticks. 20 ticks = 1 second. Default: 100 (5 s).
custom_player_regen_enabledEnable Custom RegenerationWhen enabled, the mod controls player health regeneration via the dynamic food/health system on Normal and Hard difficulty (Peaceful and Easy keep vanilla healing). When disabled, vanilla regeneration always applies and the natural regeneration gamerule is lef
infected_zombies_enabledEnable Infected ZombiesWhen enabled, naturally spawned zombies, husks, and drowned have a small chance to be marked Infected on spawn, gaining mod behavior. The exact chance is set by Infected Spawn Chance below. When disabled, no infection mark is applied.
modified_spawn_enabledEnable Modified Friendly-Mob SpawnMaster toggle for New Wind's reworked spawning of cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens by biome. When off, these animals appear at their normal vanilla rates instead. Default: enabled. Requires a full server restart.
enabledEnable Settlement AlarmMaster toggle for the village alarm reaction. On nights when surface spawning is allowed (a vanilla new moon, or any active custom moon phase), every village bell within 96 blocks of a player rings a five-strike peal shortly after nightfall, and again 30 secon
excluded_mobsExcluded MobsMobs to leave untouched by the surface-spawn rule. This overrides every other list. Entries are entity IDs (for example 'minecraft:enderman') or '#'-prefixed entity tags. Default: empty.
extra_mobsExtra MobsExtra mobs to include in the surface-spawn rule, in addition to those chosen by Mob List Mode. Entries are entity IDs (for example 'minecraft:phantom') or '#'-prefixed entity tags. Default: empty.
fluidsFluid BehaviorBehavior of the mod's fluids, such as whether brine forms infinite source blocks.
food_weightFood WeightHow strongly your hunger level affects healing speed. Higher means low hunger slows healing more. Default: 0.4.
friendly_spawnFriendly-Mob Biome SpawningChanges how often cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens appear in each biome. Changes require a server restart.
heavy_cavalryHeavy CavalryChance for a freshly spawned zombie, husk, or skeleton to become a heavily armored variant with a weapon and shield.
height_spawningHeight-Based SpawningRestricts surface spawns to certain moon phases and applies depth-based gear rules to hostile mobs in the configured dimensions. Set Mode to Disabled to turn it all off.
hp_weightHP WeightHow strongly your current health affects healing speed. Higher means low health slows healing more. Default: 0.6.
spawn_chanceInfected Spawn ChanceChance a naturally spawned zombie, husk, or drowned receives the Infected mark. Requires Enable Infected Zombies above. Range: 0.0-1.0. Default: 0.015 (1.5%).
infectionInfectionControls the Infected mark on zombies, husks, and drowned, plus infected combat and the Active Incubator.
infinite_brineInfinite Brine SourceWhen enabled, Brine forms infinite source blocks like vanilla water. Default: disabled.
vanilla_spawn_enabledKeep Vanilla Friendly-Mob SpawnWhen on, the normal vanilla spawns of cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens are kept on top of New Wind's, so both add up. When off, the vanilla spawns are removed from every Overworld biome, leaving only New Wind's. Has no effect unless Modified Friendly-Mob Spawn
max_delay_ticksMaximum Heal Delay (ticks)Longest delay, approached at critically low HP and saturation. Default: 200.
min_delay_ticksMinimum Heal Delay (ticks)Shortest possible delay between heals, used at full HP and saturation. 20 ticks = 1 second. Default: 40.
mob_list_modeMob List ModeWhich mobs the surface-spawn rule affects. Default uses a built-in list of common hostile mobs (zombie, skeletons, creeper, enderman, spider) plus your Extra Mobs; All Hostile affects every hostile mob, vanilla or modded, plus your Extra Mobs. Either way, Excl
mobsMobsMob behavior: the infection system and undead immortality.
modeModeMaster switch for the height-based spawn rules. Enabled applies them in every listed dimension; Partial behaves like Enabled (reserved for future per-dimension control); Disabled turns off all spawn changes without removing the mod. Default: Enabled.
moon_phasesMoon PhasesWhich moon phases let hostile mobs spawn on the surface — the vanilla new moon and custom phases from other mods.
playerPlayerPlayer-side mechanics, such as health regeneration.
player_regenerationPlayer RegenerationCustom food/health-driven player regeneration on Normal and Hard, replacing vanilla natural regeneration.
formulaRegen FormulaFine-tunes how strongly your health and hunger affect how fast you heal.
settlement_alarmSettlement AlarmVillage bell alarm and villager fear reaction on nights when surface spawning is allowed.
spawningSpawningWhere, when, and how mobs spawn: height-based rules, friendly-mob biomes, heavy cavalry, and the village alarm.
undead_immortalityUndead Immortality MechanicHow undead cheat death by briefly freezing instead of dying, and which hits bypass it.
worldWorldWorld and fluid behavior: brine.

Height Spawning

OptionWhat it does
allow_new_moonAllow Vanilla New MoonAllow hostile mobs to spawn on the surface during vanilla new-moon nights. Default: enabled.
allowed_custom_phasesAllowed Custom PhasesExtra moon phases from other mods that also allow surface spawning, such as blood moons. Entries whose mod is not installed are simply ignored. Default: a set of common blood-moon integrations.
allowlistBiome AllowlistBiomes the height-based spawn rules are limited to while the Biome Filter is enabled. Entries are biome IDs (for example 'minecraft:plains') or '#'-prefixed biome tags. An empty list means no restriction. Default: empty.
surface_skip_chance_creeperCreeper Surface Skip ChanceSurface skip chance used for creepers instead of the general Surface Skip Chance. The creeper must still appear in the Surface-Skip Mobs list. Default: 0.75 (a 25% chance to spawn).
deep_y_thresholdDeep Y ThresholdHeight (Y level) below which a mob counts as deep underground and becomes eligible for upgraded gear. Default: 0.
desert_thresholdDesert Biome ThresholdVanilla biome base-temperature cutoff. A biome whose base temperature is at or above this value counts as desert, which lets Husk spawn underground (paired with the underground-husk biome modifier). Note: the incubator's husk-in-desert pick checks the desert b
enabledEnable Biome FilterWhen enabled, the height-based spawn rules only run in the biomes listed in the Biome Allowlist. When disabled, or when the list is empty, every biome in the configured dimensions is affected. Default: disabled.
gear_scaling_mobsGear-Scaling MobsMobs that have their gear stripped on the surface and rolled for upgraded gear deep underground. Entries are entity IDs or '#'-prefixed entity tags. Default: zombie, husk, and all skeletons.
icy_thresholdIcy Biome ThresholdVanilla biome base-temperature cutoff. A biome whose base temperature is strictly below this value counts as icy, which lets Stray spawn underground (paired with the underground-stray biome modifier). Default: 0.15.
surface_skip_chanceSurface Skip ChanceChance that a hostile mob spawning on the surface is cancelled outright, thinning surface crowds. 0.0 never cancels, 1.0 always cancels. Default: 0.5 (50%).
surface_y_thresholdSurface Y ThresholdHeight (Y level) above which a mob counts as being on the surface, for the surface crowd cull and gear clearing. Default: 40.
surface_skip_mobsSurface-Skip MobsMobs affected by the surface skip chance when they spawn on the surface. Entries are entity IDs or '#'-prefixed entity tags. Default: creeper, spider, zombie, all skeletons, and witch.
surface_skip_chance_witchWitch Surface Skip ChanceSurface skip chance used for witches instead of the general Surface Skip Chance. Set high so witches stay rare on the surface, since (unlike other mobs) they are not limited to the allowed moon phases. The witch must still appear in the Surface-Skip Mobs list.

Infection

OptionWhat it does
max_blob_radiusMax Blob RadiusMaximum radius of the initial infection blob before the tentacle phase begins. Default: 5.
max_tentacle_reachMax Tentacle ReachMaximum distance in blocks a tentacle may grow from the incubator before it self-terminates. Values that are too low cut tentacles off mid-growth. Default: 64.0.
mob_capMob CapMaximum undead within an 8-block radius of the incubator before spawn rolls suppress. Default: 6.
spawn_chanceSpawn ChanceProbability per spawn-interval tick that the incubator spawns undead. Range: 0.0-1.0. Default: 0.15 (15%).
spawn_intervalSpawn Interval (ticks)Ticks between incubator spawn-roll attempts. Each successful roll may spawn 1-3 undead near the incubator. Default: 60 (3 s).
spread_intervalSpread Interval (ticks)Ticks between infection-spread progression steps. Doubled internally when the incubator is in dim (>6) light. Default: 20 (1 s).
