How to Organize and Manage a Large Tree Farm
Planning Your Farm Layout
Design your farm with organized rows for different tree species and hybrids. Space trees appropriately—too close together and they'll compete for resources; too far apart and cross-pollination becomes difficult. Create separate sections for parent trees, experimental hybrids, and established productive varieties.
Labeling and Documentation
Use signs or item frames to label each tree section with the species name and hybrid lineage. Keep a written record of successful crosses and their results. This documentation helps you replicate rare hybrids and avoid repeating failed experiments.
Automation and Efficiency
Consider using hoppers and chests beneath tree farms to collect dropped saplings and wood automatically. Create dedicated storage areas for each wood type to prevent mixing. If your farm grows large, organize storage by rarity or building purpose.
Maintenance
Regularly check trees for maturity and harvest when ready. Remove failed or unwanted hybrids to make space for new experiments. Maintain adequate lighting and clear debris to keep your farm running smoothly.
