Spotting Diamond Veins in Deep Caves

Identify the Cyan Outline

Diamond ore blocks are marked with bright cyan (light blue) borders when Pristine Vein Deposits is active. In deep caves and dark mining shafts, these outlines cut through the darkness, making veins visible from several blocks away without needing to mine exploratory tunnels.

Efficient Scanning Technique

When exploring caves below Y-level 16, move slowly and scan the stone walls around you. The cyan glow will stand out immediately against dark stone and deepslate. You don't need to look directly at the ore—peripheral vision often catches the outline first. This is especially useful when navigating tight cave systems where ore might be embedded in walls you'd otherwise pass.

Combine with Lighting

While the outlines are bright, pairing them with torches or a shader pack amplifies visibility in pitch-black areas. The borders remain visible even when you're moving, so you can spot veins while caving rather than standing still and staring.

Mining Strategy

Once you spot a cyan outline, approach carefully to confirm the full vein size before committing your pickaxe. Some veins are small; others extend deeper into the stone than initially visible.
