How to Survive a Village Raid with Hostile Variants

Understanding Raid Waves

When you trigger a raid in a village, hostile variants from Primal Echoes Redux join the standard illager waves. Expect Viler Witches, Frostbitten zombies, Reclaimed zombies, and other custom mobs to appear alongside pillagers and ravagers as the raid progresses.

Defensive Setup

Position yourself near the village center with clear sightlines. Build temporary defensive walls or use existing structures for cover. Stock up on healing potions before the raid starts—the variety of custom mobs means diverse damage types will be thrown at you.

Wave-by-Wave Strategy

Prioritize Viler Witches early, as they ignore magic resistance and deal heavy potion damage. Target ranged mobs like Frostbitten zombies next to reduce incoming projectile fire. Save melee-heavy mobs like Reclaimed zombies for when you have breathing room.

Use the village's layout to your advantage—funnel mobs through narrow passages and use height differences to control engagement. Villagers will help defend, so protect them to maintain your raid bar and earn better rewards.
