With natural spawning enabled (/gamerule doDinoSpawn true), dinosaurs appear throughout the Overworld in biome-appropriate locations. Carnivores like Tyrannosaurus Rex and Spinosaurus spawn in varied terrain, while herbivores like Brachiosaurus and Gallimimus prefer open plains and grasslands. Water-dwelling species such as Tylosaurus and Archelon spawn in rivers and oceans.

Identifying Species

Each dinosaur has distinctive visual characteristics. Tyrannosaurus Rex is large and brown with powerful jaws. Triceratops features three horns and a bony frill. Pteranodons are flying creatures with distinctive head crests. Stegosaurus has plates along its back, while Ankylosaurus is heavily armored. The long-necked Brachiosaurus is unmistakable due to its massive size.

Tracking and Observation

Spend time exploring different biomes to encounter the full variety of species. Keep a mental map of where you've seen specific dinosaurs—they tend to spawn in similar locations. Some species are rarer than others, so patience may be required to find all 18 types. Photography or note-taking helps you track which species you've encountered.
