Opening the Nametag Settings

Poly Nametag Mod lets you raise or lower where a nametag floats above a player's head, which is handy when your nametag overlaps with helmets, hats, or other cosmetic layers. To get started, open the mod's configuration screen. Depending on how you installed it, this is usually reachable from the Mod Menu (Fabric/Quilt) or the mods list on Forge/NeoForge, or via a keybind the mod registers for its settings. Once inside, look for the section labeled something like "Nametag" or "Rendering" — the height offset slider lives there.

Adjusting the Offset

Drag the height offset slider to move the nametag up or down. Positive values lift the tag higher above the head; negative values pull it closer to (or into) the head. Watch the live preview if the mod provides one, or step back and look at another player to judge the result. If you play in singleplayer, you can enable "show own nametag" so you can see your own tag while tweaking. Save or apply the change, then exit the menu. If the tag still clips into armor or a hat, nudge the value a little further and re-check. Remember that other players only see your offset if the setting is server-side or synced — in most setups this is a client-side visual change, so it affects how you see nametags, not how others see yours.

Tips

  • Keep the offset modest; extreme values can push the tag off-screen at close range.
  • Combine with the text shadow option for readability against bright skies.
