Tame Your First Pet

Find Your Target Mob

Decide which mob you want to tame. Passive animals like wolves and cats are easiest for beginners, but you can also tame hostile mobs like creepers or skeletons once you're ready.

Get the Right Food

Open your Taming Guide (the in-game guide book) and search for your target mob. The guide shows you exactly which food that mob prefers. Craft or gather the required taming food—different mobs have different favorites.

Approach the mob carefully and feed it the taming food by right-clicking. You may need to feed it multiple times before it becomes your pet. Keep feeding until you see the taming progress complete and the mob becomes loyal to you.

Confirm Your Pet

Once tamed, your new pet will follow you and respond to commands. Grab a Mob Behavior Controller and right-click your pet to set its movement (Follow, Stay, Wander) and combat style (Passive, Defensive, Aggressive).

Store It Safely

When you're ready to travel, place your pet inside a Mob Pocket by charging the item. This lets you carry multiple companions without losing them.
