Use Blend Modes to Create Advanced Effects
Understanding Blend Modes
Blend modes determine how new pixels interact with existing colors on your
canvas. Access blend mode settings by right-clicking the air with your
paintbrush. The mod includes several blend modes:
- Overwrite – standard painting; new colors replace old ones completely
- Additive – brightens the canvas by combining colors, useful for glowing effects
- Multiply – darkens the canvas by blending colors, good for shadows
- Erase – removes pixels entirely, revealing the block underneath
Practical Applications
Use Overwrite for solid artwork and outlines. Switch to Additive when painting highlights or light sources to create luminous effects. Apply Multiply for shading and depth. The Erase mode lets you correct mistakes or create transparent areas in your design.
Experiment by painting the same area with different blend modes to see how they interact. Layering Additive and Multiply strokes can create complex, realistic shading on detailed pixel art.
