Understanding the per_player_wandering_traders NBT Tag
What the Tag Stores
This mod saves each player's trader spawn state inside that player's NBT data under the per_player_wandering_traders tag. That means the cooldown, spawn attempts, and related tracking for your trader live with your player file — not in a global world file. This is what makes the behavior consistent across sessions: log out and back in, and your trader progress is still there.
How to Inspect It
1. You'll need operator permissions and access to NBT tools (such as the vanilla /data command on a player entity, or an external NBT editor on the player's .dat file).
2. Target your own player entity and read the data. Look for the per_player_wandering_traders compound.
3. Inside it you'll find the fields the mod uses to track your spawn timing. The exact field names depend on the mod version, so read them rather than assuming.
Why You'd Care
- Troubleshooting: If your trader never spawns, checking this tag confirms whether the mod is actually tracking you.
- Server admin work: You can verify a specific player is being handled correctly without resetting the whole world.
- Backups: Since the data is per-player, backing up player files preserves trader state.
Don't hand-edit these values unless you know what you're doing — corrupting the compound can break spawn tracking for that player.
