How to Tell Which Status Effect You Have by Reading the Particles

Why the particles matter

Before this mod, every potion effect looked like the same swirling cloud, so you had to open your inventory to check what was active. Now each vanilla effect has its own texture, which means you can identify your condition at a glance during combat or exploration.

Reading the visuals

Stand still and watch the particles rising off your player model. Match what you see against the effect you expect:

• Harmful effects (poison, wither, weakness, slowness) use darker, sicklier textures that read as a warning.
• Beneficial effects (regeneration, strength, speed, absorption) use brighter, cleaner textures.
• Neutral or special effects (glowing, invisibility, levitation, night vision) have their own distinct look rather than reusing the generic swirl.

If you are unsure which effect is which, drink a single potion in a safe area and watch the particle change in real time. Do this once per effect and you will build a mental catalogue.

Using it in practice

In PvP, glance at your own particles to confirm a buff is still running before you commit to a fight. In survival, use the particle colour to notice a hidden debuff from a mob hit or a bad food item before it drains your health.
