How to Upgrade Your Backpack Through Every Tier
Understand the Upgrade Path
The mod uses a sequential upgrade chain. You start with the leather backpack and then move up through iron, copper, gold, diamond, and finally obsidian. Each tier increases storage capacity over the previous one. If another installed mod adds silver, a silver backpack becomes available as an additional option in that chain. You cannot skip tiers; each upgrade consumes the previous backpack plus the new tier's materials.
Perform an Upgrade
1. Gather the materials for the next tier (for example, iron ingots for the iron backpack).
2. Place your current backpack and those materials into the crafting grid in the pattern your recipe viewer shows.
3. Take the result: the upgraded backpack. Any items stored inside are preserved through the upgrade, so you do not need to empty it first.
4. Repeat the process tier by tier until you reach the capacity you want.
Choosing Where to Stop
Obsidian is the top of the standard chain and gives the largest capacity, but it is also the most expensive. Many players stop at diamond for everyday use and only push to obsidian for long expeditions or storage-heavy builds. If you have a silver-adding mod, compare its capacity and cost against the tier you would otherwise craft next before committing materials.
