How to Create Multiple Rarity Tiers for Your Items

A common goal is making common, rare, epic, and legendary items each look distinct. The mod supports unlimited custom styles, so you can build a full rarity ladder.

Plan Your Tiers

Decide how many rarity levels you need and pick a color scheme for each. A typical progression uses muted colors for common items and brighter, more saturated colors with thicker borders for higher tiers. Write down the style IDs you will use so you can reference them consistently.

Build One Style Per Tier

Duplicate your base style file once per tier. Change the background, border, and text colors for each. Keep the layout identical across tiers so tooltips stay readable — only the colors and border weight should change. If you want higher tiers to show a 3D model, enable it only in those styles.

Assign Items to Tiers

Assign each item to its tier using the mod's item-to-style mapping. Group items by editing the mapping file or tag that the mod reads. After assigning, reload resources and hover items from each tier to confirm the correct style appears. If an item shows the wrong style, it usually means two mappings conflict — the last one loaded wins, so remove duplicates.
