Checking Whether a Specific Server Is Online Without Scrolling Back Up

Why Scroll Position Matters

When you keep a long list of servers, the ones you actually play on tend to sit somewhere in the middle or near the bottom. The vanilla refresh button resets your view to the top, which forces you to scroll back down every time you want to re-check a server's status. That is a lot of wasted scrolling if you are waiting for a friend's server to come back up.

Step by Step

1. Join the multiplayer screen and scroll to the server you are waiting on.

2. Note its current status — offline, online, or showing a player count.

3. Click refresh.

4. The entry updates in place. Your view does not move.

Practical Tips

  • You can refresh while hovering over the entry you care about, so your cursor stays near the Join button.
  • If a server is slow to respond, the entry may briefly show as pinging before resolving. This is normal and does not affect your scroll position.
  • Because the list no longer jumps, you can compare several nearby servers at once by refreshing and watching which ones change state.

This turns the refresh button into a usable monitoring tool rather than something you avoid because of the scroll reset.
