How to Use No Fog Mod for Better Cave and Ocean Exploration
Fog is not just a Nether and Overworld horizon effect; it also shapes how caves and oceans feel. No Fog Mod clears the environmental haze so you can read these spaces more easily, but each needs a slightly different approach.
Exploring caves
With fog removed, deep cave systems stay visible farther down tunnels. Bring plenty of torches so you can light what you see, and watch for lava and cliffs that were previously masked by darkness and haze. The clearer view makes it easier to spot ore veins on distant walls and to plan routes through branching caverns. Remember that the mod does not brighten caves; you still need light to see detail up close.
Exploring oceans
Underwater fog normally limits how far you can see while swimming. Depending on how the mod handles water fog, your underwater visibility may improve, letting you spot shipwrecks, ocean monuments, and kelp forests from farther away. Carry potions of water breathing or enchant your helmet with respiration so you can stay under long enough to use the extra range.
General tips
- Pair the mod with a decent render distance so distant chunks load.
- Use the improved sightlines to mark landmarks with torches or blocks.
- Keep a map or coordinates handy, since seeing farther can make it easy to lose track of where you started.
Clear visibility turns caves and oceans into navigable spaces instead of murky guesswork.
