Crafting Your First Vertical Slab

Gather Materials

Vertical slabs are crafted similarly to regular slabs, but with a vertical orientation recipe. You'll need the same base material as you would for a standard slab—wood planks, stone, deepslate, or any other slab-compatible block.

Craft at the Crafting Table

Place your materials in the crafting grid following the vertical slab recipe pattern. Unlike regular slabs which stack horizontally, vertical slabs are oriented to stand upright. The recipe typically requires three blocks arranged to produce vertical slab variants.

Collect Your Vertical Slabs

Once crafted, collect the vertical slabs from the output slot. You can now place them in your world. They'll stand perpendicular to the ground, allowing you to build vertical surfaces and create architectural details that regular slabs cannot achieve.

Tips

Vertical slabs work with most vanilla slab materials. Experiment with different block types to find the aesthetic that fits your build. You can combine vertical and regular slabs for complex designs.
