Harvesting Mossy Blocks with Shears

Preparing Your Tools

Equip shears in your main hand. Any standard Minecraft shears work—no special enchantments are required, though Efficiency enchantments may speed up the process.

Shearing Mossy Blocks

Approach any mossy block in the world and right-click it with your shears. The block will drop a corresponding Moss Ball without breaking the block itself. This allows you to:

• Harvest moss repeatedly from the same location
• Collect multiple moss types without depleting your environment
• Gather crafting materials without needing to mine and replace blocks

Efficient Collection

Target areas with high moss density, such as:

• Caves with mossy stone variants
• Forests with mossy wood blocks
• Crimson and Warped Forests (for their specialized moss types)
• Biomes you've modified with mossy blocks

Shearing is faster than mining and more sustainable for long-term moss ball collection.
