How to Defeat the Battle Tower Guardian

Know the Boss

The guardian at the top of a Battle Tower is a buffed Wither Skeleton with a much larger health pool than a normal one, and it can shoot fireballs at range. That combination means you cannot simply trade hits in melee, and you cannot safely stand still at a distance either.

Fighting Tactics

• Clear the roof of other mobs first. Fighting the guardian while regular mobs swarm you is how most players die.
• Use cover. Pillars, corners, and the tower's own architecture block fireballs. Peek out, hit, and duck back.
• Bring a bow or crossbow for chip damage while it is far away, then switch to melee when it closes in.
• Fire resistance potions or enchanted armor with fire protection greatly reduce the threat of its fireballs.
• Keep moving in a circle around it. Standing in one spot lets it line up shots and land melee hits.
• Watch your footing on the roof. Knockback from a fireball can send you off the edge, so avoid fighting near the rim.

After the Fight

Collect the guardian's drops and any remaining chests on the top floor. The roof is usually where the best loot is stored, so do not leave without checking every container.
