Prepare Your Base Against Crawler Zombies

Why Crawlers Are a Threat

Crawler Zombies are small, agile undead that can scale vertical surfaces—walls, cliffs, and even your base exterior. Unlike standard zombies, they bypass ground-level defenses by climbing, making them particularly dangerous at night.

Defense Strategies

Vertical barriers: Build your walls from materials crawlers cannot grip. Smooth blocks like glass, ice, or polished stone are harder for them to climb than rough textures. Test your wall materials in creative mode first.

Overhang design: Extend your roof outward beyond your walls' edge. Crawlers approaching from below will lose grip when they reach the overhang and fall back down.

Elevated platforms: Position your base entrance on a platform at least several blocks above ground level, with no climbable surfaces leading up. Use ladders only on the interior.

Lighting: Keep external areas well-lit. Like most undead, crawlers avoid bright spaces, though they're more persistent than standard zombies.

Perimeter clearance: Regularly clear vegetation and debris from around your base. Crawlers can use plants and blocks as handholds to reach higher.

Combining these methods creates layered defense that forces crawlers to approach predictably, where you can manage them effectively.
