Maximizing Loot from Moss Ruins

Chest Contents

Every Moss Ruin contains at least one chest with early-game supplies: food items, building blocks, and emeralds for trading with villagers. Ruined Cities have multiple chests with higher-quality loot, sometimes including iron.

Efficient Looting Strategy

1. Explore thoroughly — Check all visible structures and dig carefully; some chests may be partially buried or hidden

2. Bring tools — A pickaxe helps you clear rubble and access hard-to-reach chests

3. Mark locations — If you find multiple ruins, mark them so you can return for resources later

4. Check for mobs — Clear the area of hostile mobs before looting to avoid interruptions

Trading Emeralds

Emeralds found in chests can be used immediately to trade with nearby villagers if you find a village, or saved for later trading opportunities. This gives you early access to rare items without extensive mining.
