How to Start Your First Gear Upgrade

Finding Your Starting Materials

Before you can upgrade, you need to locate the new ores added by this mod. Explore the Overworld and Nether to find deposits of early-tier materials like Steel ore. Mine these with an appropriate pickaxe and smelt or process them according to the mod's recipes to get raw materials and ingots.

Performing Your First Upgrade

Once you have materials and an upgrade template:

1. Open a Smithing Table

2. Place your current gear (e.g., Iron sword) in the left slot

3. Place the matching upgrade template in the middle slot

4. Place the next tier's material (e.g., Steel ingot) in the right slot

5. Collect your upgraded item from the output slot

Understanding the Upgrade Path

Upgrades must follow a specific order—you cannot skip tiers. Check which template and material your current item needs by hovering over it or consulting the mod's progression tree. Each material tier has a complete tool and armor set, so you'll upgrade your entire loadout gradually as you progress through the material hierarchy.
