Getting and Using the Mob Spawn Book

The spawn book is the intended way to explore this data pack without memorising dozens of function names. It is a single item that lists every added mob and spawns it when you click an entry.

Obtaining it

1. Make sure cheats are on or you are opped.

2. Run /function mobvariants:spawnbook.

3. The book appears in your inventory (or drops at your feet if your inventory is full).

Using it

Hold the book and right-click to open it. You will see a page of clickable text entries — one per mob variant. Clicking an entry executes that mob's spawn function, so the creature appears right where you are standing. Because the book uses click events rather than typed commands, it works even if you have never used a function before.

A few practical notes:

• Keep the book in a chest or your hotbar when testing builds; it is easy to lose track of it in a crowded inventory.
• Some variants are mini-bosses and are considerably stronger than the base mob. Spawn them in an open area or a prepared arena, not next to your base.
• If you want a clean list of names for command blocks or datapack scripting, read the entries in the book and note the mob names, then use the /function mobvariants:spawn/... form instead.
