Building a Testing Arena for Mini-Bosses and Explosive Variants
Several variants in this pack are deliberately dangerous: creepers that explode into more creepers, laser-firing blazes, and custom mini-bosses. Testing them in your base is a quick way to lose it. Set up a dedicated arena first.
Arena setup
1. Pick a flat area well away from anything you care about — at least a few chunks from your builds.
2. Build a walled enclosure out of a blast-resistant block. Obsidian or a similar tough block is the safe choice for anything with an explosion mechanic.
3. Leave a roof or a high ceiling if you plan to test flying or ranged variants; otherwise they escape over the walls.
4. Add a single entrance you can seal behind you, and keep a bed or respawn anchor nearby.
Running tests
Spawn mobs with the spawn book or /function mobvariants:spawn/... while standing outside the enclosure, or use a command block wired to a button so you are never inside when the mob appears. For chain-exploding creepers, spawn one at a time and watch how the secondary explosions propagate — that tells you how much clearance your real build needs.
Keep difficulty on the setting you actually play on. A mini-boss that feels trivial on Peaceful will behave very differently on Hard, and the arena is meant to predict real fights. Reset the arena between tests by killing leftovers with /kill @e[type=...] or by using the pack's menu reset.
