Create Custom Chickens for Modded Materials

Understand Auto-Detection

Modern Chickens automatically scans your installed mods and creates chicken types for ores, ingots, and materials added by other mods. These custom birds spawn naturally or can be summoned, giving you access to modded resources through farming.

View Available Custom Birds

Run /chickens custom list in-game to see all auto-generated chicken types. This includes birds for modded ores, gems, and special materials your other mods add.

Spawn and Breed Custom Chickens

Use /chickens spawn summon <chickenNameOrId> to spawn a specific custom chicken next to you. Catch it and add it to your farm, then breed it with other types to unlock variants with better drop rates.

Design Custom Birds Manually

Edit config/chickens_custom.json to create entirely new chicken species with custom names, colors, and drop tables. This lets you add chickens for materials the mod didn't auto-detect or create themed farming operations.

Integrate with Your Factory

Once you have custom chickens producing modded materials, connect their drops directly to machines that process those materials, creating a fully automated resource pipeline.
