How to Locate and Protect Animal Herds

Finding Herds

Deer, reindeer, walruses, and beluga whales spawn in specific biomes suited to their real-world habitats. Deer and reindeer roam grasslands and forests in groups, walruses gather on ice floes and snowy coasts, and beluga whales inhabit cold ocean waters. Scout these biomes during daylight when herds are most visible and active.

Protecting Herds from Predators

Once you've located a herd, monitor their safety. Predators will actively hunt these animals, so position yourself between threats and the herd when possible. You can create barriers using fences or terrain manipulation to funnel predators away from vulnerable animals. Some herds, like male deer, will defend themselves through sparring, but younger or isolated animals need more protection.

Avoid startling herds with sudden movements or attacks—this disrupts their natural behavior and can scatter them into dangerous territory. Instead, observe their grazing patterns and migration routes to predict where they'll be safest from predator activity.
