How to Tame and Breed Big Cats

Finding and Taming Big Cats

Big cats like lions, tigers, and leopards spawn in various biomes. Open your CreaturePedia to identify which biome each species prefers. Approach cautiously—untamed cats are hostile.

Each big cat species requires specific bait food. Check the CreaturePedia for the exact food your target cat needs, then hold it and right-click the cat. Once tamed, the cat's collar will change color, indicating ownership.

Breeding and Coat Variation

Tamed big cats can be bred by feeding them their preferred bait food while keeping them close together. Breeding two cats with different coat types may produce offspring with new coat combinations—the mod includes 14 different coat patterns across big cat species.

To encourage breeding, ensure both cats are well-fed and in the same area. Keep other hostile mobs away to prevent interference. Baby cats will spawn nearby and inherit traits from their parents. As they grow, their coat pattern will become visible.

Experiment with different parent combinations to discover rare coat types. Store excess cats using Horse Amulets if inventory space becomes an issue.
