Prevent Sanity Loss in Deep Caves
Light Up Your Surroundings
Darkness is one of the fastest ways to drain your sanity meter. When exploring deep caves, prioritize lighting every area you pass through.
- Place torches frequently along your path—don't rely on just your held torch
- Carry extra torches in your hotbar; sanity loss accelerates in pitch-black spaces
- Light up dead ends and side passages so you're never surrounded by unlit blocks
- Consider bringing lanterns or other light sources for backup
Stay Alert to Visual Cues
Your screen will begin to blur and shake as sanity drops. This is your warning to act.
- If you notice visual distortion, stop mining and find an exit or well-lit area immediately
- Don't push deeper into unexplored darkness when your vision is already compromised
- Return to the surface or a lit base camp to recover before continuing
- Eat cooked food while underground to slow sanity drain and restore some mental stability
Use Protective Gear
If you've crafted a
Garland, equip it before long cave expeditions. It won't stop sanity loss entirely, but it will slow the rate significantly, giving you more time to explore safely before needing to retreat and recover.
