Fighting hostile mobs drains sanity with each hit taken. Reduce this loss by avoiding unnecessary combat.
- Use ranged weapons (bows, crossbows) to damage mobs from a distance
- Build defensive structures or trenches to control mob encounters
- Wear armor to reduce damage taken, which indirectly reduces sanity drain
- Avoid looking directly at Endermen—this causes additional mental strain
Prepare Before Dangerous Encounters
Enter combat situations with your sanity already in good condition.
- Eat cooked food before engaging hostile mobs
- Make sure you're well-rested and have recently recovered sanity
- Equip your
Garland if you have one to slow drain during the fight - Bring healing items so you can restore health without retreating
Handle Shadow Hallucinations
When sanity reaches critical levels, shadow entities spawn and attack.
- Keep weapons equipped and ready to fight back
- Don't panic—these hallucinations can be defeated like normal mobs
- Retreat to a lit, safe area if overwhelmed
- After defeating shadow entities, immediately focus on sanity recovery through food, campfires, or sleep
