How to Tell Whether MidnightLib Is Working Correctly as a Dependency
MidnightLib is a library, not a gameplay mod, so "is it working?" usually means "is the mod that needs it actually loading?" Here's how to check without digging through logs blindly.
Signs It's Loaded
If a mod that depends on MidnightLib (for example a decorative or dynamic-lighting style mod) starts up without a missing-dependency error, MidnightLib is present and loaded. You can also confirm by opening Options and looking for the MidnightLib config entry — if it's there, the library initialized.
Signs Something's Wrong
A crash on startup mentioning a missing or incompatible library, or a dependent mod simply not appearing in your mod list, usually points at MidnightLib being absent or the wrong build for your game version. Because MidnightLib is version-sensitive, a mismatch will often fail loudly rather than silently.
Checking the Config Overview
Open the MidnightLib config overview from Options. If your dependent mods show up there with their own config screens, the integration is working end to end. If a mod you expect is missing, that mod may not use MidnightLib's config system even though it depends on the library for other utilities.
Tips
- Don't add MidnightLib on its own expecting new items or blocks — it adds none.
- If a dependent mod updates, update MidnightLib alongside it to avoid version mismatches.
