How to Find and Read Ancient Journals

Locating Underground Structures

Ancient journals are hidden within strange stone structures deep underground. You'll need to explore caves and dig downward to discover these ruins. Look for unusual stone formations that don't match natural cave generation—these structures often contain the knowledge you need to progress in dark magic.

Reading and Using Journal Information

Once you find a journal, read it carefully. These documents contain crucial secrets about rituals, monster creation, and Cruor harvesting techniques. The information in journals is essential for understanding which recipes and rituals are available to you. Keep notes on important discoveries, as you may need to reference them later when crafting or performing rituals.

Journals also hint at what materials and structures you should build next. Some journals may unlock new crafting recipes or reveal the locations of other structures worth exploring. Make journal hunting a priority early in your playthrough—the knowledge they contain directly enables your progression into darker magic.
