Decide if you need Melody Mod installed

When Melody Mod is required

You need Melody Mod only if another mod you want to use lists it as a dependency. Check your mod's download page or documentation—it will explicitly state if Melody Mod is required.

How to tell if it's missing

• The mod that needs Melody Mod will fail to load, or you'll see an error message when launching the game
• The game log will mention a missing dependency
• Features from that mod (especially music) won't work

Installation location

Melody Mod goes in your mods folder, just like any other mod. It works on both single-player and multiplayer servers, though typically only the client (your game) needs it installed.

If you don't use music mods

You can safely ignore Melody Mod. If no other mod you've installed requires it, you don't need it. It takes up minimal space and causes no performance impact when present, so leaving it installed is harmless if you're unsure.
