Starting Your First Quest

Visit any village and talk to villagers to hear rumors or accept jobs directly. Check the wooden quest boards in villages to pick up bounty contracts for quick rewards. Press J to open your quest journal, which tracks active tasks, objective coordinates, and story steps.

Follow the journal clues to complete objectives, then return to the quest giver for rewards. As you progress through story arcs like *The Armed Dead* or *The Witch at the Hut*, your dialogue choices shape how the narrative unfolds—you can fight enemies, spare them, or investigate further.

Once you unlock companions by sparing certain enemies, manage their equipment through their inventory screen. Recruited companions fight alongside you while avoiding peaceful villagers and farm animals. Use the quest journal's clickable coordinates to navigate to objectives across the world, including dangerous locations like the Nether.
