Set Up Soundpacks for the First Time
Getting Sounds Into Your World
MAtmos generates atmospheric audio, but it needs soundpacks to work. Without them, you'll hear nothing.
Installing a Soundpack
1. Obtain a soundpack file (these are resource packs designed for MAtmos)
2. Locate your resource packs folder:
- Windows:
.minecraft/resourcepacks - Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks - Linux:
~/.minecraft/resourcepacks
3. Place the soundpack folder or ZIP file directly into this directory
4. Launch Minecraft and open your world
5. Press F7 to open the MAtmos menu
6. Verify that soundpacks are enabled and active
Recommended Starting Soundpacks
If you're new to the mod, try the Default Soundpack (the original 2012 soundpack, updated for current versions) or MAtmos 2020 "Zen" for high-quality, seamless loops. The Rhapsodia soundpack enhances rain and thunder with more realistic audio.
Once installed, you should immediately hear environmental sounds matching your location—birds in forests, wind on hills, or cave ambience underground.
