Understanding MarriagePlus Spouse Limits and Request Cooldowns

Spouse Limits

MarriagePlus lets server owners decide how many spouses each player may have. Depending on configuration, a player might be limited to a single spouse, allowed a small number, or permitted unlimited marriages.

How this affects you:

  • If you're at your limit, new proposals you send will be rejected by the plugin.
  • The limit usually applies per player, so your spouse may have room for another partner even if you don't.
  • Run /Marry to view your command menu and check your current marriage status.

If a proposal unexpectedly fails, being at the spouse cap is one of the first things to check.

Proposal Cooldowns

To stop chat spam, the plugin enforces a cooldown between marriage requests.

The cooldown typically applies per player, not per target, so switching who you ask won't bypass it.

Self-Marriage Block

The plugin also prevents players from proposing to themselves, so you'll never accidentally marry your own account. If a command seems to silently fail, confirm you typed the correct target name and that you aren't at your spouse limit or inside a cooldown window.
