How to Format and Color Main Menu Text

Using Formatting Codes

The mod allows you to style your main menu text using Minecraft's standard formatting codes. These are special characters preceded by the section sign (§) or, in some configs, the ampersand (&). For example, &c makes text red, &l makes it bold, and &n underlines it. You can combine them, like &c&lImportant!. Place these codes at the start of the text or before the portion you want to style. Note that if you are using JSON text components, you should use the color and bold fields instead of legacy codes.

Applying Colors in JSON

When using JSON, you can set the color field to a named color (e.g., "red", "gold", "aqua") or a hex value like "#FFAA00". You can also set "bold": true, "italic": true, "underlined": true, and "strikethrough": true. These properties apply to the entire text component unless you use extra arrays to style parts differently.

Testing Your Formatting

After editing the config, save and restart Minecraft. Check the main menu to see how your text looks. If colors do not appear, ensure you are using the correct syntax for your mod version. Some versions may only support legacy codes, while others fully support JSON. Adjust accordingly and avoid mixing the two in the same entry, as this can cause unexpected results.
