How to Add Hover Text to Main Menu Credits
What Hover Text Does
Hover text (also called a tooltip) appears when you move your mouse over a clickable element. It can provide additional information, such as what a link does or a description of a command. The mod supports this through the hoverEvent field in the JSON text component.
Adding a Hover Event
In your config, extend a clickable entry with a hoverEvent. For example: {"text": "Visit our website", "clickEvent": {"action": "open_url", "value": " "hoverEvent": {"action": "show_text", "value": "Click to open our website in your browser"}}. The action for hover is usually show_text, and the value is the tooltip string. You can also use show_item or show_entity in some versions, but show_text is the most common and reliable for main menu credits.
Styling and Formatting
You can combine hover text with formatting codes or JSON formatting to make it stand out. For instance, you can color the tooltip text or make it bold. However, keep in mind that the main menu is not a chat window, so extremely long tooltips may be cut off. Test your hover text by hovering over the clickable line in the main menu. If the tooltip does not appear, verify that the hoverEvent is correctly nested inside the same JSON object as the clickEvent and that the syntax is valid.
