Set Up Automatic Item Sorting with Maids

Create a Sorting Station

Place multiple storage chests in a cluster near where your maid will work. Each chest should contain items of a similar type or category—one for ores, one for wood, one for food, etc.

Configure Chest Filters

Craft item frames and place them on the front of each chest. Inside each frame, put a sample item that represents what belongs in that chest. For example, place an iron ore in the frame on your ore chest. The maid will learn from these visual filters and sort incoming items accordingly.

Alternatively, use a whitelist filter in the item frame to strictly control which items go where.

Assign the Task to Your Maid

Open your maid's inventory menu and select the Storage task. This activates her sorting job. She will now automatically pick up items from the ground nearby and place them into the correct chests based on the filters you've set.

Let Her Work

During her free time, your maid will handle the sorting. You can toss items on the ground, and she'll organize them without further input. If you want to change what goes where, simply update the item frames on your chests.
