Prevent Other Players from Opening Your Locked Containers

Why Hiding Your Key Matters

On multiplayer servers, locking a chest only works if other players don't have access to the key. If someone finds your key lying around or in an unlocked chest, they can open your locked containers.

Best Practices for Key Security

Keep keys hidden:

  • Store your key in a locked container (using a different key)
  • Keep it in your inventory at all times
  • Use the Curios slot to equip it so it's not visible on the ground
  • Never leave keys in public areas or shared storage

Make multiple keys:

If you need to share access with a trusted player, craft a duplicate key using the same recipe. Both keys will open the same locked container.

Change your locks:

If you suspect someone has copied your key, craft a new key and lock your containers with it. The old key will no longer work.

Remember

The mod provides the locking mechanism, but security depends on you keeping your keys safe. Treat them like passwords—don't share them carelessly.
