Create Locked Loot Chests for Your Custom Map

Map Builder Tools

Lucky's Locksmith Mod includes special lock types designed for map makers: Golden Locks and Trial Locks. These appear in the Operator Utilities tab and let you create locked loot chests that players must solve puzzles or complete challenges to open.

Setting Up Locked Loot

1. Access the Operator Utilities tab in your creative inventory

2. Select either a Golden Lock or Trial Lock depending on your map's design

3. Place the lock on your loot chest or barrel

4. The container is now locked and requires the corresponding key to open

Golden vs. Trial Locks

Golden Locks are typically used for high-value loot or important progression points. Trial Locks are designed for challenge-based progression, where players must complete a trial or puzzle to earn the key.

Distributing Keys to Players

Place the matching key in a puzzle reward, hidden location, or as a quest completion item. Players must find or earn the key to access the locked loot.

Design Tips

  • Use locked chests to gate progression in your dungeon
  • Combine multiple locks to create key-hunting challenges
  • Hide keys in thematic locations that match your map's story
