How to Reduce Shield Size in Minecraft with the Low Shield Resource Pack

The Low Shield Resource Pack works by replacing the default shield model with a smaller one, so the first thing to understand is that you don't toggle it in-game — you enable it like any other resource pack and the change applies automatically.

Enabling the Pack

1. Open Options from the main menu or pause screen.

2. Go to Resource Packs.

3. Find the Low Shield pack in the Available list on the left.

4. Click it to move it to the Selected list on the right.

5. Make sure it sits above any other pack that also edits the shield model, otherwise the other pack wins and your shield stays large.

6. Click Done. The shield model reloads immediately — no restart needed.

Confirming It Worked

Equip a shield in your offhand and raise it by holding right-click (or your use key). The raised shield should now cover far less of the screen, leaving your crosshair and the area around it visible. If the shield still looks full-size, another selected pack is overriding the shield texture or model — drag the Low Shield pack to the top of the Selected list and re-check.

Because this is a resource pack and not a mod, it changes only the visual model. Blocking, damage reduction, and banner patterns on shields all behave exactly as before.
