Making Modded Loot Show Up in Custom Modpack Structures

Why Custom Structures Need Extra Attention

Vanilla chest tables are handled automatically, but structures added by other mods or by a modpack's own datapacks use their own loot tables. This addon is designed to reach those custom structure tables too, but only when the structure's loot is defined in a way the addon can read.

What to Check

  • The structure must actually use a loot table. Some hand-built or scripted structures place items directly instead of rolling a table, and those cannot be modified by any loot injection mod.
  • The structure's loot table must be loaded from a datapack or from the mod's own data folder. If a pack overrides a table, the override is what gets injected into.
  • If your pack ships its own datapack that replaces vanilla tables entirely, the addon works on the replaced table, not the original.

Steps

1. Identify the structure you want to affect and confirm it drops loot from a table (test by opening several instances and noting whether results vary).

2. Check whether your modpack includes a datapack that rewrites that structure's loot.

3. Reload datapacks after any change so the new tables take effect.

4. Test in a freshly generated area, since existing chests keep their already-rolled contents.

If a structure places items directly rather than via a table, no loot integration mod can touch it.
